New York Jets linebacker C.J. Mosley has high hopes for the team this season, but several fans don’t believe in the Jets quite as much.

New York Jets linebacker C.J. Mosley has high hopes that the Jets will make it to the playoffs this season, and said that he’s “expecting playoffs or bust” (via Mark Inabinett of AL.com). However, given last season with a 4-13 finish, Mosley is likely getting ahead of himself.

The Jets are expected to fall short of contention, but Mosley still believes in the team’s success. He described the team dynamic as a reason behind his beliefs.

According to Ethan Sears of the New York Post, Mosley stated, “The reasons why [teammates are] doing the things that they’re doing after practice, during meetings, studying and all those little things play a factor when you have a bunch of guys that can be really close together like that. I think our unity and our family really is a big difference to what I’ve seen in the past.”

The Jets aren’t expected to have a playoff-worthy season

Despite Mosley’s beliefs, the Jets likely won’t reach the playoffs this season. Though it’s likely they’ll significantly improve from last season, they’re up against several teams that have also improved from last season.

They finished last in the AFC East last season, which is a competitive division. They’re against the Miami Dolphins who made several big upgrades to the offensive line.

They’re also against the defending AFC East champions, the Buffalo Bills. The Bills are expected to be a powerhouse team again this season. The New England Patriots are still under development since losing Tom Brady, Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski. However, Bill Belichick manages to create a solid team every season, regardless of who he has.

The Jets will need a bit more time and development to reach the playoffs.
