The Florida State vs. Duquesne football game was not starting at the scheduled time. Here is why that was the case.

The Florida State Seminoles were looking to begin their 2022 season on a high note, as opposed to their loss to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish last year. The Seminoles seemingly had great odds of doing so, as they faced off against the Duquesne Dukes football team.

Florida State fans were excited to finlaly watch their beloved team on a football Saturday. Instead, the start time for the game was delayed.

Why was Florida State vs. Duquesne game delayed?

On the big screen at Doak S. Campbell Stadium, a lightning advisory was posted, warning fans that the game may be suspended. Fans then packed inside the concourses to take cover and to wait out the storm. Players warming up on the field also had to take cover inside.

Seminoles head coach Mike Norvell is looking to win his first season-opening game since taking over the program in 2020. He lost to the Georgia Tech Yellowjackets in 2020 and Notre Dame in overtime last year.

Football fans waited this long for the season, and now they have to wait a bit longer until the storm passes.
