The new regime of Adofo-Mensah and O’Connell got to mold the team into their image in their very first NFL Draft this year. The area that was addressed the most was in the secondary, specifically at cornerback. In the second round, the team selected Clemson’s Andrew Booth Jr. Akayleb Evans of Missouri was drafted in the fourth round. Those are two spots locked in behind veteran Patrick Peterson and 2020 third-round pick Cameron Danztler.

When looking at the depth chart, Kris Boyd could be on the outside looking in.

Boyd has been with the Vikings since 2019 as a seventh-round draft pick. He split time between a cornerback option off the bench and on special teams. In coverage, Boyd allowed 56 receptions for 760 yards and three touchdowns on 79 targets, per Pro Football Reference.

Considering Minnesota’s top-heavy depth at cornerback, Boyd could lose out on a roster spot, even with his experience on special teams.
