NFL wide receiver Josh Gordon was released by the Kansas City Chiefs when they trimmed their roster. Luckily, it didn’t take him long to find another landing spot. According to Taylor Bisciotti of NFL Network, Gordon visited the Tennessee Titans on Wednesday.

He was later signed to the Titans practice squad, according to agent Zac Hiller (reported to Adam Schefter of ESPN).

Gordon has had a rough path in the NFL. He was one of the best players in 2013, just one year after he made his NFL debut. According to ESPN, “He led the NFL in receiving in 2013 with 1,646 yards and nine touchdowns on 87 catches.”

He then missed the entirety of the 2015 and 2016 seasons due to suspensions involving substances. Since then, he’s had trouble staying on any team and his performance has gone significantly downhill.

If he can get back to his early-career potential, he could be a weapon for the Titans.

Gordon started his career with a catch percentage of 52.1 and consistently caught about the same through his first three seasons. After being suspended, he came back inconsistent each season. By the end of last season, he had a catch percentage of 35.7.

He only completed 32 rushing yards over 12 games. He undoubtedly lost his steam and wouldn’t contribute much considering those numbers. However, with his early-season results, he’d be able to help the Titans significantly.

The Titans are a good team and have finished first in the AFC South standings the past three consecutive seasons, so it’s smart to add Gordon to the practice squad rather than the 53-man roster right away. He should have to prove himself, and this will give him the opportunity to without having to give up on his NFL career.
