Rasul Douglas had some choice words about the Green Bay Packers’ Week 1 performance.

Rasul Douglas and the rest of the Green Bay Packers will have to pick up the pieces after a brutal Week 1 road loss to the division rival Minnesota Vikings.

Green Bay fell to Minnesota, 23-7. While offensive ineptitude was the Packers’ undoing, the Green Bay defense had no answer for Justin Jefferson whatsoever. The Packers were seen as having one of the best secondaries in the NFL this season, but Jefferson and Kirk Cousins had no issues carving them up on Sunday evening. This was a rough one for sure, but at least Douglas is honest.

Here is what he said about the team’s dismal Week 1 performance after the fact. Earmuffs, kids!

While saying it just kind of snowballed on them would have done just fine, it happens. Green Bay still has everything to play for, but really needs to beat the Vikings in their rematch in early January if they want to win the NFC North. The Packers are fortunate in that they play in the weaker of the two conferences. Unfortunately, Minnesota might be one of the better teams in the league, too.

It is not the end of the world because Green Bay struggled out of the gate last year, and still ended up with the No. 1 seed. What is important is that first loss is to their toughest competition in the division. Although the Chicago Bears won in Week 1, they are still rebuilding. Even if the Detroit Lions are further along in that endeavor than Chicago, they still trail Green Bay and Minnesota.

Ultimately, the Packers have 16 games left to play this season. Odds are, they are not going to look this listless on offense, or be carved up as proficiently as the Vikings’ passing attack did to them on Sunday evening. Losing your Week 1 game to a bitter rival always hurts, but time is on the Packers’ side to get this thing right. Maybe Douglas and the boys will be able to clean it up?

The Packers stunk in Week 1, but don’t worry, other teams laid an egg in their first game as well.
