Jerry Jones is making a risky decision in trying to rush Dak Prescott back from surgery after he suffered a hand injury on Sunday Night.

Jerry Jones will do anything to win, but trying to rush Dak Prescott back from surgery to his throwing hand is far too risky.

The Dallas Cowboys owner told reporters that he would not place Prescott on injured reserve and believes that Prescott could return in four weeks instead of the 6-to-8 weeks that doctors recommended.

This sounds like desperation. Yes, the Cowboys have high expectations for this season, given last year’s division title, and a home playoff game against San Francisco. Moreover, the roster has a lot of talent, so aspirations are high.

However, not having Prescott is a concern. Additionally, risking Prescott further could damage the quarterback long-term. But are we surprised that Jerry Jones said this? Jones always wants to be front and center, and speaking out on a topic like this is exactly what we should expect.

At the same time, Prescott should know where his health is. There are a lot of injuries that a quarterback can come back from in a shorter time, but a throwing hand is risky because the velocity of chucking said football can be impacted if the ailment did not heal correctly.

Jones is taking a big gamble. He wants to win, and time is running out, as is his patience. Moreover, Cowboys fans are tired of being subjected to ridicule and would love nothing more than to stick it to the critics.

This isn’t the way to do it, though. There is toughness, then there’s downright dangerous, and the thought of Prescott playing after four week falls under the latter category. Be careful what you wish for Jerry.
