New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge just homered twice against his biggest rival on Tuesday night, and now he’s not denying the thought of joining their team.

New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge just homered twice against the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night, his biggest rival. Judge is eligible for free agency next season, so naturally, people wonder if he’d consider joining the Red Sox. He doesn’t seem opposed to the idea.

Though he didn’t give a solid “yes” or “no” answer, he did reportedly smile at the idea and say, “We’ll talk about that at the end of the year” (via Phillip Martinez, SNY).

Judge also expressed a positive view of the fans, stating, “It’s the best, they’re some of the best in baseball. They’re going to boo you, they’re going to say some things, they’re going to make you laugh. It’s all part of it. A lot of great history here, and this is one of the best places to play, so it’s always fun going out there and trying to put on a show for them.”

He’d be a valuable addition to Boston and would help provide some stability that’s desperately needed at the current moment.

Yankees slugger Aaron Judge would be a great addition to the Red Sox

Judge would be a great addition to any team in MLB, including Boston. The Red Sox have had an above-average lineup this season, but they’ve been inconsistent and have struggled to find much success as of late. Currently, they come last in AL East rankings with a 69-73 record, and their series against the Yankees is only piling on the misery. New York has been in a similar boat in recent months, but Judge has proven to be one of the most reliable players throughout the year.

He’s having an exceptional season, hitting .310/.414/.692 for an OPS of 1.106. This is the best season of his career so far, but his overall career numbers are still far better than most. Over his seven-season career, he’s hit .283/.391/.581 for an OPS of .972.

If Aaron Judge joined the Red Sox now, he’d be the best hitter in Boston, despite the team having one of the best lineups in the league. Among the entire league, the Red Sox currently have the fourth-best batting average (.259), sixth-best on-base percentage (.320), eighth-best slugging percentage (.411) and ninth-best OPS (.732). They could improve their power at bat, and Judge would certainly help that.

He’ll likely be worth quite a bit as a free agent, but the Red Sox are one of the wealthiest teams in MLB, so they should be able to dish out enough money if they determine he’s worth it.

The day Judge wears a Red Sox jersey may soon be upon us.
