Darius Slay is going full Gotham with analysis of his teammates
By Scott Rogust
Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Darius Slay compared his teammates to a prevalent DC Comics superhero.
The Philadelphia Eagles made multiple newsworthy moves this offseason to build off of their 2021 season that ended with them making it to the playoffs. The most notable of those transactions was, without a doubt, the team acquiring wide receiver AJ Brown in a trade with the Tennessee Titans. That drastically improved their wide receiver room and gave further help for quarterback Jalen Hurts.
Ahead of the team’s Week 2 game against the Minnesota Vikings, Eagles cornerback Darius Slay provided some analysis of wide receivers, and it included DeVonta Smith, Quez Watkins, and Brown.
They were all some form of the DC Comics character, Batman.
Eagles: Darius Slay compares AJ Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Quez Watkins to Batman
Brown is “Swole Batman.” Smith is “Skinny Batman.” Watkins is “Fast Batman.” And as he says, there are no Robins, or sidekicks, on the team.
In the season opener, Brown made a huge statement in his first official game with the Eagles. Brown was targeted 13 times by Hurts, catching 10 of them for 155 yards.
As for Smith, he was targeted four times, but did not haul in a single pass.
On offense, the Eagles got on the scoreboard through the running game. Miles Sanders, Boston Scott, Kenneth Gainwell and Hurts all scored rushing touchdowns. The only other touchdown scored by Philadelphia was on defense, as cornerback James Bradberry intercepted a pass from Lions quarterback Jared Goff and returned it for a touchdown.
The Eagles will have their home opener on Monday Night Football. The Eagles will match the Vikings passing attack of Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen with “Swole Batman,” “Skinny Batman,” and “Fast Batman,” as Slay dubbed them.
