The Kansas City Chiefs are 2-0 after a narrow victory over the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday Night Football. But it wasn’t without controversy for Patrick Mahomes.

Mahomes was the victim of a low, late hit, and Chiefs fans were irate at the officiating staff for missing said call.

Those Kansas City fans included Mahomes’ own wife, Brittany, who called out the NFL on social media.

The play in question was a Joey Bosa hit below the knee.

However, some replay angles appear to show that Bosa was pushed into Mahomes lower half, so it wasn’t intentional and therefore not a personal foul. At full speed it can be tough to tell, even for someone trained in that field.

The play rightly made Chiefs fans a little nervous, but Mahomes was fine after limping around for a few moments.

Was Joey Bosa’s hit on Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes dirty?

Had Bosa gone low on Mahomes without any possible influence, then it’d be easy to agree with his wife Brittany. However, this is questionable. The official call was that Kansas City offensive lineman Andrew Wylie threw Bosa into Mahomes while trying to make a block, and per the replay it’s tough to disagree or disprove that decision.

Brittany Mahomes surprised her husband on gameday by bringing their first child Sterling to Arrowhead Stadium. This was meant to be a first for Patrick, so obviously the Chiefs signal-caller getting injured on Thursday Night Football would not have been ideal.

Brittany and Jackson Mahomes have been mainstays at Chiefs home games ever since Patrick was drafted back in 2017. While they’ve been under fire at times, for the most part they merely add to a raucous football atmosphere.

Why not embrace it, baby and all?
