Indiana goalposts almost come down thanks to huge collision with players (Video)
The Indiana goalposts looked in danger of falling after a whole swarm of players came barrelling into the base during a Hail Mary attempt.
College football Saturdays have featured plenty of goalposts coming down. They just usually happen during raucous, field-storming celebrations.
This Saturday, Indiana’s goalposts threatened to fall for an entirely different reason.
The Hoosiers trailed the Hilltoppers 17-10 just before the end of the half, facing a fourth-and-16 with just seconds remaining. So they tried a Hail May from midfield. The pass sent receivers and defensive backs straight into the post.

The force of half-a-dozen players careening into the pad had the goalpost shaking like you’ve probably only ever seen with hundreds of fans trying to bring it down.
Fortunately, the thing didn’t fall and no one looked seriously injured in the collision, though several players were briefly shaken up. Who wouldn’t be after that? Thank those layers of protective material for the lack of injuries.
In the end, Indiana didn’t technically need those seven points, even though they trailed by 11 points going into the fourth quarter.
They scored a touchdown and two-point conversion to tie the game 30-22 in the final minute. Then Western Kentucky’s missed field goal in overtime opened the door for the Hoosiers to win on their own 51-yard attempt. It wasn’t pretty, but a win is a win.
Indiana moved to 3-0 while Western Kentucky suffered their first loss of the season, dropping to 2-1.
