LSU football’s student section completely embarrassed themselves by directing a NSFW chant at an injured Mississippi State player.

There’s a really simple rule to follow in college football, or any sport for that matter: Never cheer for injuries or jeer an injured player.

LSU’s student section didn’t get that memo apparently. They broke the rule in the worst possible way while watching their team take on Mississippi State.

When a Bulldog player went down injured and had to be tended to by athletic trainers, the LSU fans in the student section were caught on mic directing a NSFW chant his way.

It sure sounded like they were chanting, “He’s a p***” before ESPN’s cameras cut away.

There’s no room in sports for that. It doesn’t matter how riled up you are or how unserious you might be. It’s a question of basic decency. Those fans should know better. They were rightly lambasted on Twitter for the moment.

It’s a shame that this kind of thing even happens. Unfortunately, a bunch of idiots are always capable of embarrassing themselves at any moment.

The Tigers and Bulldogs were locked in a battle throughout the night on Saturday. MSU took an early 13-0 lead but LSU worked their way back, scoring three unanswered touchdowns in the fourth quarter to take a 31-16 lead.
