Oregon running through BYU proves 1 thing: Georgia is that damn good

If Oregon is doing this to BYU, it only further illustrates just how good Georgia really is.

After getting its doors blown off by Georgia in the season opener, Oregon has had no issues with BYU whatsoever, further signifying how dominant these Dawgs really are.

Even if this was a transitional year for Dan Lanning in Eugene, the Ducks were still widely seen as one of the three best teams in the Pac-12, along with USC and Utah. As for BYU, Kalani Sitake’s team moved all the way up to No. 12 in the latest AP Top 25 poll after beating Baylor in Provo. This was a team people thought could win the Group of Five in its final year before joining the Big 12.

While it is so incredibly hard to win on the road at Autzen, beating the Dawgs might be impossible.

Oregon’s domination of BYU proves just how unstoppable Georgia might be

Even with the College Football Playoff expanding to 12 teams in the next few seasons, the gap between the best team in the country and, let’s just say the 12th, has never been wider. While the thought that expansion will somehow bridge the gap, this just feels like trickle-down economics. The good news is Georgia is among the haves when it comes to the debate of haves vs. have-nots.

What this game in Eugene tells us is nobody is going to blame the Ducks for getting humiliated in Atlanta by Georgia. Lanning’s team was little more than Dawg food on Labor Day Weekend. Heck, he could have told you that before kickoff if he wanted to be that candid, well, because he used to work there. That is the bar his team must reach, as that is the standard they are hoping to achieve.

Ultimately, so much is left to be written in these three teams’ seasons. Are the Ducks going to fly together and win the Pac-12 in Lanning’s first year in the job? Will Kirby Smart’s Dawgs repeat as national champions? Are the Cougars ready to make that big leap up in competition once Sitake’s squad joins the ranks of the Big 12 full-time next year? These are all good things to be discussing.

However, there is no debate as to who the best team in the nation is, and that team is Georgia.
