Denver Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett is off to a tough start, to say the least. That continued well into Week 2.

Denver won their Week 2 matchup against the Houston Texans, which ought to be a relief to Broncos fans after a brutal loss in Seattle to open the year.

However, it did not come without serious questions.

Russell Wilson, overall, is fine. Hackett is not, as Denver routinely looks like the worst-coached team in the NFL due to some awful time management skills.

To be fair to Hackett, he’s been at this for two games. But it was his decision not to play his starters much in the preseason, and his decision not to trust Wilson on a fourth-and-5 last week in Seattle.

Learning on the fly is not a strength of NFL teams. For everyone who praised the Broncos for naming Hackett head coach in the first place, it’s not too late to delete that take from your Twitter timeline.

Broncos: Nathaniel Hackett is learning on the job

Hackett lost all of his timeouts by the 7:38 mark of the fourth quarter. Heck, he had his own fanbase chanting the play clock so the team would know when to snap the ball. Typically, that’s a form of trolling, but not in Denver.

The young head coach deserved some time to adjust after his first game. Mistakes are not unheard of in Denver — heck, they just dealt with Vic Fangio. But Hackett is on thin ice considering the Broncos high expectations.
