Upsets were not on the menu last week but we’re locked in with our Week 4 college football upset picks featuring juicy conference matchups.

College football fans who live for upsets were left looking up at the ceiling in dismay after this past Saturday because, even if the weekend was not short on drama, there were no true upsets to be found throughout the country. But with conference matchups starting to heat up, the college football upset picks for Week 4 are in abundance.

But before we get into those, there are a couple of potential on-paper upsets that won’t be discussed. Perhaps the biggest is Clemson taking on Wake Forest in a battle of Top 25 ACC teams. In that game, though, I don’t see the Demon Deacons being able to move the ball well enough to pull off the big win.

Similar logic applies to Texas going on the road to face Texas Tech. Meanwhile, Oregon could be in trouble in Pullman against Washington State but I’m simply just not that confident in the Cougars yet.

So where does that leave us? With our five college football upset picks for Week 4, obviously. Let’s dive into those for what could be a wild Saturday.

College football upset picks for Week 3: 5 teams on upset alert

5. Oklahoma Sooners

Opponent: Kansas State | Time: Saturday, Sept. 24, 8 p.m. ET | Spread: OU -12.5

Putting the Sooners on upset alert last week was undoubtedly an overreaction and reading too much into two things: Oklahoma sleepwalking against Kent State and then Nebraska firing Scott Frost. As it turns out, Brent Venables had his team ready and blew the doors off of the Huskers.

Going back to this well, however, is not an overreaction in the slightest. For starters, Kansas State actually has a 2-1 record over the Sooners in their last three meetings, despite how good OU has been of late. The Wildcats have had this team’s number and a big reason why is the style of play. K-State controls the clock extremely well with a unique and dynamic offense that causes the Sooners problem while also playing extremely sound and quality defense.

For an Oklahoma team that’s still not truly been tested, this is just a tricky matchup that has given the program issues in recent years. So it stands to reason to say that could happen again on Saturday.
