Chiefs fans running out of patience with Skyy Moore’s rookie mistakes

Kansas City Chiefs fans don’t have a lot of patience remaining for Skyy Moore, who hasn’t looked great in his first few games.

Moore received just a few snaps in Kansas City’s win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday night. With a long week in hand, Eric Bieniemy and Andy Reid vowed to use Moore on offense and special teams.

The Chiefs were favored in Indianapolis on Sunday, but got off to a rough start thanks to Moore’s muffed punt. A three-and-out appeared to suggest a strong first quarter was coming, but quickly thereafter they faced a deficit.

Kansas City football fans have been through a lot, but given the embarrassment of riches on the roster, they don’t have a lot of patience for Moore’s rookie antics.

Moore was a second-round selection out of Western Michigan. By no means is his career over due to a rough start, but the Chiefs need to see some of that talent he flashed in college and at the scouting combine.

So far, the coaching staff has built him up, and for good reason — his confidence is rather fragile at this stage. Moore doesn’t have to replace Tyreek Hill, but contributions from their rookie would, to some extent, justify the move a little more.

Moore returned another punt shortly thereafter, and while he didn’t fumble, he looked borderline lost. Fans had enough.

When Mecole Hardman exists — and is on the roster — there is no need for Moore to be back there. If the Chiefs want to get him the ball more, it should be in his natural role as a wide receiver.

He’s more than talented enough to justify those touches on offense.
