Watch Patrick Mahomes, Eric Bieniemy get into fiery argument on Chiefs sideline (Video)
By Mark Powell
The Kansas City Chiefs suffered a couple miscues in the first half against the Indianapolis Colts, which led to some frustration on the sideline. Patrick Mahomes and Eric Bieniemy got heated.
Such is the game these days.
Mahomes has just as much say in the offensive play-calling as the coordinator himself, Eric Bieniemy. While Bieniemy has the title of coach bestowed upon him, and is one of the brighter young coaching minds in the league, Mahomes is a $500 million man for a reason.
So, when No. 15 starts arguing about a call, Bieniemy better listen, even if he doesn’t like what he’s hearing. The two got in a verbal disagreement as they walked off the field at halftime of their Week 3 contest against the Colts.
Chiefs: Andy Reid steps in between Eric Bieniemy, Patrick Mahomes
Reid stepped in between the two when the altercation turned to borderline yelling. It was a wise move by the veteran coach — this is not how Mahomes and Bieniemy will solve their problems, even if they must air some grievances.
Kansas City is 2-0 on the young season, and remain one of the only undefeated teams left in football. A road victory over the Colts would only solidify KC’s claim to the AFC throne.
We’ll have more on this story shortly.
