College football referees get things wrong every week. In Week 4, Michigan benefitted, Ohio State got a bad break and Notre Dame got screwed.

It wouldn’t be a college football weekend without needing to scream at the television because the officials made a bad call.

It’s part of the experience, even if it’s one of the worst parts.

So let’s have a look at the worst calls from this week in college football.

But first, we begin with an honorable mention to the Pac-12 refs in charge of the Oregon vs. Washington State game. The conference had to release a statement acknowledging their refs messed up by skipping a second down belonging to the Cougars. After a punt on not-fourth down, they went back and gave Wazzu a new down. It was a mess.

3. Phantom pass interference on Ohio State

Ohio State was on the wrong end of a pass interference call in the second quarter. No. 18, Jaire Brown, makes some slight contact with the receiver in the top right corner but the pass wasn’t even directed towards him and it was completely uncatchable.

You can watch the above clip a thousand times. It won’t look any closer to actual pass interference the more you look.

Fortunately for the Buckeyes, this one definitely didn’t change the outcome of the game. Ohio State was already ahead of Wisconsin at that point in the game and they went on to complete a rout.
