5 breakout fantasy football stars to pick up for Week 5
1. Top Fantasy Football Pickups For Week 5 – Dallas Cowboys WR Michael Gallup
A popular fantasy receiver over the past few years, Gallup went undrafted in many leagues due to concerns over the length of his rehab from offseason knee surgery to repair a torn ACL. Gallup progressed rapidly, however, and nearly made the lineup in Week 3 before getting back on the field against Washington in Week 4.
Gallup caught a touchdown in his first game back, catching two passes for 24 yards on the day. While that workload may seem light, especially since it came on just three targets, Dallas was likely easing Gallup back into the mix after his knee injury.
There is a proven track record of production with Gallup, who caught 35 passes for 445 yards and two touchdowns in nine games last season and is just a few years removed from a 1,000 yard campaign with Dak Prescott. The Cowboys should be getting Prescott back in a week or two and have little competition for targets outside of CeeDee Lamb so there is a huge opportunity for Gallup to emerge as the clear No. 2 option in what should be a pass-heavy offense.
Smart owners started to stash Gallup, who was rostered in 41 percent of Yahoo leagues entering Week 4, once they saw that he was closing in on a return. There is still a good opportunity for people to add Gallup, who should be a WR3 when he is fully up to speed with a healthy Prescott.
