New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge hit his 62nd home run on Tuesday, setting a new record for the franchise and the AL.

New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge made history on Tuesday night with his 62nd home run this season, setting a new single-season record for the franchise and the AL. His mom has been cheering him on every step of the way, and her reaction to his 62nd was completely wholesome.

She watched nervously as the ball flew, and with relief, she stood up and cheered for her son. She then shared hugs with those around her, undoubtedly a “proud mother” moment.

Judge has given her every reason to be proud this season, as well as his team and all of those around him. He broke Roger Maris’ record of 61 set in 1961, which is probably a once-in-a-lifetime feat. He’s also had an incredible season that’s helped keep the Yankees clinch the AL East division, and he’s only seeming to get better with time.

Yankees star Aaron Judge only seems to get better with time

Judge had an explosive start to his career during his first full season. In 2016, he made his MLB debut with New York but only played 27 games. When he played nearly every game in 2017, he truly showed his potential and slashed .284/.422/.627 for an OPS of 1.049. He also hit 52 homers that season, the second-most in the league. His performance fell slightly short of that the next four seasons but was still better than most in the league.

This season, he’s hit an incredible .311/.425/.686 for an OPS of 1.111 and broke the home run record in the second-to-last game of the season. There’s no telling what he may do in the final game, but he broke the barrier and seems to be just hitting his prime.

He’s already in the conversation for a triple crown, a prestigious award only 10 MLB players have ever earned. He’s also in the conversation for the AL MVP award against the defending AL MVP Shohei Ohtani. He’s on a great path that is only getting better.

Judge is on fire, and this is only the beginning.
