The Alabama Crimson Tide found a way to survive a late comeback attempt by the Texas A&M Aggies, winning 24-20 to remain undefeated.

Last year, the Texas A&M Aggies pulled off the massive upset victory over the Alabama Crimson Tide to bring an end to their undefeated season. On Oct. 8, 2022, the Aggies tried to do the same thing again.

Alabama did their best to keep Texas A&M in the game and to eventually give them the win. That was evident on the final plays of the game, where a Crimson Tide interception was taken back due to defensive pass interference. That gave the Aggies two yards to reach the end zone, but quarterback Haynes King threw a pass well out of bounds and out of reach to his intended receiver, Evan Stewart, clinching the 24-20 win for the Crimson Tide.

Members of college football media reacted to the game that could have very well went either way.

Prior to the game it was revealed that Bryce Young would not be starting the game. Rather, it was Jalen Milroe, who filled in for Young the week prior after he suffered a sprained AC joint in his throwing shoulder. In this game, the Crimson Tide prioritized running the ball, as they had 51 carries as opposed to 19 pass attempts.

What really hurt the Crimson Tide was they turned the ball over four times, three coming in the form of fumbles. That, and kicker Will Reichard missed two field goal attempts (47-yards, 35-yards) which hypothetically would have helped Alabama avoid a near upset.

Milroe completed 11-of-19 pass attempts for 111 yards and three touchdowns, while throwing one interception. The starting quarterback also ran for 83 yards on 17 carries.

King threw 25 completions for 253 yards, two touchdowns and one interception on 46 pass attempts.

The Crimson Tide avoided the upset, but next week, they can not make similar mistakes. They take on the undefeated Tennessee Volunteers, who are led by Heisman candidate Hendon Hooker.
