After Oklahoma football’s unbelievably embarrassing loss to Texas, Colin Cowherd recruited Sooners players to follow Lincoln Riley to USC.

It was reasonable to go into the 2022 season thinking Oklahoma might experience some growing pains under first-time head coach Brent Venables.

Their third loss of the season felt a whole lot more like undergoing surgery without anesthetic than just growing pains.

Texas won the Red River Showdown going away. Their 49-0 victory was the biggest shutout in Oklahoma history. It made the Sooners a laughing stock on social media.

If Oklahoma keeps playing like that, it could be open season on the Sooners roster when the transfer portal opens in December. Colin Cowherd is already rubbing his hands together in anticipation on behalf of USC.

“The transfer portal was created for this Oklahoma mess,” Cowherd tweeted. “Talented kids gotta upgrade soon as they can. Be the best they can be. Could I suggest heading…West. #FightOn”

And that was far from the only thing Cowherd had to stay on the subject of Oklahoma on Saturday. He did not hold back from trolling the Sooners.

It’s pretty clear the transfer comment was more joking from Cowherd, but it will be interesting to see what kind of reverberations this terrible start has on the Sooners program.

If Venables can’t instill some confidence soon, there will be players who look to other options. There will also be recruits who reconsider their commitment or interest in Oklahoma. Whether or not they land in Los Angeles with Riley is another question.

Riley has his Trojans sitting 5-0 coming into Saturday. OU transfers Caleb Williams and Mario Williams have been pivotal figures on the USC offense.
