This Oklahoma fan could not handle how horrendously bad the Sooners were at Red River.

Oklahoma fans have no reason to watch their sorry football team for the rest of the season.

After starting the year out 3-0, including a win over old Big Eight rival Nebraska, the Sooners are suffering a bad case of can’t get right during their early portion of conference play. Brent Venables’ team lost its first two Big 12 games at home vs. Kansas State two weeks ago and on the road at TCU in a blowout last week. Clearly, these losses did not prepare their fanbase for Red River at all.

It is nothing short of Crybaby Boomer Sooner Loser at the site of the old Cotton Bowl right now…

Boomer Loser: Oklahoma fans are accepting that this year’s team is hot garbage

For 20 years, Oklahoma had been the bastion of excellence in the Big 12. The Sooners were a dominant team first under Bob Stoops and then under Lincoln Riley. While hiring Venables away from Clemson seemed like a good idea at the time, his first year back in Norman has been nothing short of a total disaster. Are the Sooners even going bowling? What if they lose to … West Virginia?

Not saying that Venables is going one-and-done at OU, but one of their most distinguished alums and noted Stoops disciple is kicking major ass over in SEC country right now. That’s right. Former Heisman runner-up Josh Heupel has his Tennessee Volunteers firing on all cylinders in year two. While it remains to be seen how good Tennessee will be, they are light years ahead of Oklahoma.

Hindsight is 20/20, but we were foolish to not expect some regression under Venables in his first year on the job. Oklahoma had not been a playoff-caliber team the two previous years under Riley, and he was a seasoned head coach! This is Venables’ first time in the big chair. While Oklahoma is not going to run him out of town right now, you cannot taste like Riley burnt brisket at Red River.

Things are only going to get harder for the Sooners once they join the SEC alongside Texas in a bit.
