The Cleveland Guardians are officially advancing to ALDS after a long and hard Wild Card series win, and they failed to have a proper water cooler celebration.
The Cleveland Guardians are officially advancing to the ALDS after a long and hard battle against the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 2 of the Wild Card series. Naturally, they attempted to have a water cooler celebration after Oscar Gonzalez hit a massive walk-off home run in the 15th inning to beat the Rays 1-0.
The water cooler guy is seen carrying the cooler over while the Guardians jump up and down in celebration, and right as he’s getting ready to pour it all over everyone, he drops it. Luckily, that didn’t stop anyone from celebrating.
The Guardians are on top of the world as they make it one step closer to the World Series.
The Guardians are one step closer to the World Series
Out of 118 seasons of the franchise, the Guardians have only made 16 playoffs, including this season. They hadn’t made it to the ALDS since 2018 and haven’t been to the World Series since 2016. They certainly fought hard to make it this season, but it’s well-deserved.
They will have to defeat the New York Yankees to make it to the ALCS and from there, either the Houston Astros, Toronto Blue Jays or Seattle Mariners, depending on who wins the Wild Card and ALDS.
There’s a lot of talent in the playoffs, and they don’t have the upper hand. They’ll likely miss the World Series, but there’s still potential to make it.
This season is exciting for many, and the walk-off home run was epic. The water cooler celebration would’ve been epic as well, but it doesn’t distract from the fact that the Guardians have advanced in the playoffs.
