On College GameDay Pat McAfee decided to go all-in on USC football as a College Football Playoff contender in Lincoln Riley’s first year.

Colin Cowherd isn’t the only media personality who is getting fully behind USC this season.

Add Pat McAfee to the list.

The newest member of ESPN’s College GameDay crew declared his love for the Trojans on Saturday in Lawrence.

“I love USC. I have loved USC. I will continue to love USC as long as they continue to do their thing,” McAfee said.

McAfee credited Lincoln Riley with marketing Los Angeles as a destination and getting Caleb Williams to come along with him for the ride.

The only question he has is the same one everyone else has: Can USC’s defense show up every week?

David Pollack pressed McAfee about the Trojans’ viability as a playoff pick. McAfee went for it.

“I love ’em, put them in the final four,” McAfee said.

McAfee will hope USC doesn’t make him eat his words. They have a tricky matchup with Washington State at the Coliseum on Saturday night then a difficult test in Salt Lake City against Utah next week.

If the Trojans make it through the next two games, they will have a clear path not only to the Pac-12 title but a playoff berth.

Riley has quieted doubters through the first five weeks of the season. He had to bring together a completely rebuilt roster and he’s managed to win five games with them. The offense has looked spectacular at times with Williams at the helm while the defense has allowed yards at a concerning rate but leads the nation in turnovers gained.

As McAfee pointed out in that clip, they’re continuing to grow as well. It should be fascinating to see what the Trojans look like by the end of the regular season. Then we’ll have a better sense of playoff talk.
