Jerry Jones gives an update about Dallas Cowboys starting quarterback Dak Prescott after Cooper Rush has guided his team to four straight wins.

While it remains to be seen if Dak Prescott will make the start vs. the Philadelphia Eagles next week, the Dallas Cowboys have not lost a game when Cooper Rush leads them out of the tunnel.

After losing Prescott to a thumb injury in Week 1, Rush has come in and won all four of his starts for the Cowboys this season. He is 5-0 as the Dallas starter dating back to last year. While Prescott is a top-10 quarterback when healthy, the Cowboys seem to have something pretty good going with Rush leading the attack. Of course, we all know what Dallas is going to do here soon…

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is over the moon about how well his team is playing of late. He said at his postgame press conference that they wanted to give Prescott one more week to recover.

While he does not know if Prescott will be healthy enough to start vs. Philadelphia, that remains a realistic goal for the Cowboys’ starting quarterback.

The Eagles game will be a huge test for the Cowboys, as Philadelphia is the last undefeated team in the NFL through five weeks.

Are the Cowboys a better team with Prescott as their starting quarterback? In theory, yes, but Rush has this team playing with great confidence with him under center. What may be happening is everybody on the team knows they have to play their best football with Rush at quarterback for them to win games. Thus, the Cowboys are playing with a refined focus which is atypical for them.

Let’s be real. No matter who starts at quarterback for the Cowboys, the winner of the Eagles game will be viewed as the best team in the NFC. While the New York Giants are also 4-1, Dallas and Philadelphia were playoff teams a year ago. The G-Men were dog water who needed to hire a new head coach. Then again, the Giants did defeat last year’s No. 1 seed in Green Bay over in London…

Overall, Dallas can afford to take its time when it comes to Prescott. Even if they were to fall to Philadelphia, that would not be the end of the world. The Cowboys will get to play them again and nobody goes undefeated in the NFL anymore. Philadelphia is going to lose a game. It is just a matter of when, not if. Perhaps it comes to the Cowboys when Prescott makes his return Week 6?

Things are going spectacularly for the Cowboys, but we are all waiting for the other shoe to drop…
