A pair of wide receivers and an intriguing quarterback streamer highlight the top fantasy football pickups for Week 6 of the NFL season.

The fantasy football season is about to take another step up in difficulty as byes are set to begin in Week 6. The Las Vegas Raiders, Tennessee Titans, Detroit Lions and Houston Texans are the first four teams to get a week of rest, meaning fantasy owners now have to navigate byes alongside injuries and performance to put together their ideal starting lineups.

Navigating the bye weeks requires a combination of smart pickups, a bit of luck, and foresight to grab the right streamers ahead of time. With that in mind, let’s take a look at five intriguing fantasy football pickups for Week 6, beginning with a handcuff option for the top running back of 2021. All rostered percentages are provided courtesy of Yahoo leagues.

5. Top Fantasy Football Pickups For Week 6 – Indianapolis Colts RB Deon Jackson

The loss of Jonathan Taylor to an ankle injury was a bummer for his fantasy owners since there wasn’t a clear backup plan for him. Nyheim Hines appeared to be the top candidate before getting knocked out of Week 5 early with a concussion, turning the backfield over to Denver castoff Phillip Lindsay and rookie Deon Jackson, who made the most of his opportunity.

Jackson carried 13 times and tallied 62 yards on the ground while adding four receptions for another 29 yards for good measure. Indianapolis is a team that likes to run the ball first, especially given the struggles of Matt Ryan this season, so Jackson is an intriguing player any time Taylor isn’t active.

Taylor is aiming to come back for Week 6 against the Jacksonville Jaguars but Jackson, who is rostered in just one percent of Yahoo leagues, is a good pickup for Taylor owners as a handcuff and everyone else as a bench stash. Jackson would be playable as a flex option if Taylor isn’t ready to return from his ankle injury in Week 6.
