Houston Astros slugger Yordan Alvarez sent fans home happy with an absolute bomb to defeat the Seattle Mariners in Game 1.

Alvarez’s home run was heard around the baseball world on Tuesday night, and for good reason — he absolutely crushed it.

Mariners manager Scott Servais took a risk by putting starter Robbie Ray in for the final out, and it did not fare well. He’s sure to receive some questions postgame.

But for now, let’s focus on Alvarez. The Houston designated hitter has long been a forgotten man in the AL MVP race thanks to Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani, but he provided fans with a reminder of just how great he is moments ago.

Goodbye, baseball!

Yordan Alvarez: Astros walkoff from every angle

The replay itself doesn’t necessarily do the moment justice. Alvarez pimped his home run off Ray — as he should, sorry baseball purists — and made his way around the bases like a badddd man.

Alvarez celebrated with his teammates before he could even reach first base, in part because of perhaps the most savage bat flip outside of Jose Bautista.

OH MY GAWD.

The fans, as you can imagine, went absolutely wild.

For Mariners fans, it’s more of the same. Seattle hadn’t been to the postseason in over 20 years, and in their first appearance have to face the monster in Houston that they just can’t seem to slay.

In theory, Servais putting in one of his best pitchers to face Alvarez makes sense, until you consider the role and the moment. Alvarez made the Mariners pay for that mistake big time.

It’s a best-of-5 series, so by no means has Houston punched their ticket to the ALCS just yet, but a demoralizing defeat like this one is tough to get over. Seattle NEEDS to win at least one game in Houston to advance, and they just let one slip right through their fingers.
