The Saints could put the burn on a former teammate in Week 6, which would be sweet, sweet revenge for the Saints and its fanbase.

The Cincinnati Bengals are basically the Louisiana football-north. They roster several marquee LSU alum (Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase) and former New Orleans Saints players (Trey Hendrickson, Vonn Bell).

Perhaps no player is of interest more than former Saint Eli Apple, though, who Saints fans absolutely love to hate.

A quick recap:

Saints can get revenge on Eli Apple

The Saints haven’t faced off against Eli Apple since 2020. In that game, though, one key piece of the revenge tour was inactive: Michael Thomas.

Thomas and Apple were teammates at Ohio State, and Apple was no match for Thomas as a Buckeye.

Thomas has missed the last two games but initially sounded like he was progressing toward a Week 6 return. He wasn’t at Thursday’s practice, but there is still time for him to get the nod as a starter on Sunday.

After missing all of the 2021  season, fans are eager for a vintage game from Thomas in general. Through three games this year MT has 171 yards and three touchdowns. It would be eeven sweeter if he was creating some burnt Apple pie in Week 6.

The Saints love a good opportunity at revenge, but it’ll be even sweeter if we finally see the Michael Thomas vs Eli Apple matchup we’ve been waiting for. That is, if the Bengals have the guts to put Apple on him.
