The Buffalo Bills exorcised some demons in Kansas City on Sunday, beating the Chiefs in a game that came down to the final minute.
It’ll take more than a regular-season win to truly erase the trauma of the Bills‘ overtime loss to the Chiefs in last season’s AFC Divisional Playoff game. But a regular-season win in Kansas City sure does dull the pain.
Buffalo faced the Chiefs for the first time since that playoff loss on Sunday and came away with a hard-fought 24-20 victory.
It was a triumph for Josh Allen and company, scoring the winning touchdown with just over a minute to play. Then the Bills defense got redemption by forcing a Patrick Mahomes interception to seal the win.

The Bill’s Defense exercised their demons today by FINISHING the game.

the #bills had red zone failures, penalties, missed tackles...and still gutted out the win on the road - in one of the toughest places to play.

a win worthy of the 1 seed in the AFC #billsmafia
Von Miller on Chiefs' last three possessions:

1. Created pressure, chased Mahomes down on 3rd down to force FG
2. Sacked Mahomes on 3rd down to force punt
3. Flushed Mahomes out of the pocket on GW INT
A one-man difference-maker on defense. Exactly what the Bills hoped for.
now we can definitely put the “bills can’t win close games” narrative away forever thank u

Chiefs fans had some processing to do.
Chiefs were down THREE defensive starters and held Buffalo to 24. The Bills are the better team right now. It's a long season. Chill out. At San Francisco next Sunday.

The #Chiefs defense - without Willie Gay Jr. and two starters in the secondary - held the Buffalo Bills to 24 points, 4-for-11 on 3rd down, 1-for-3 on 4th & 2-for-4 in the RZ. They did their job. Von is a monster. That’ll happen. The INTs were the difference. It’s okay to admit. https://t.co/RppRhoX0ZS

It’s a regular season game, guys. Chill lol. Chiefs almost won with Countryboi and Seth Keysor seeing time in the secondary. To me there’s only positives to gain from this.

I'm glad this game was before the trade deadline. The Chiefs need a pass rusher.
— Kent Swanson #KirklandKing (@kent_swanson) October 16, 2022
Patrick Mahomes threw for 338 yards and two touchdowns but he also tossed two interceptions and took three sacks.
Josh Allen had 329 yards and three touchdowns. The one sack he took was a controversial one, as Chris Jones appeared to trip the quarterback.
The Bills are sitting atop the AFC standings and most observers expect Buffalo and Kansas City to meet again in the postseason. Since this was their only scheduled regular-season meeting, both sides will have to follow through to ensure another epic rematch arrives. Then KC will get the chance to avenge this loss while Buffalo will have their opportunity to exorcise the playoff demons as well.
