Tom Brady is having a rough season in Tampa Bay, and his frustrations once again boiled over on the Buccaneers sideline.

It’s been a tough year for Tom Brady.

Much has been made about Brady’s personal life, and things don’t seem to be going much better for him on the field. After skipping almost all of the Buccaneers training camp ahead of the season and scheduling regular bonus days off during the week,  Brady looks bad. He’s out of sync with the offense and looks like a shell of the quarterback he’s been for Tampa Bay over the last two seasons.

One of the biggest variables is the offensive line. Brady lost guard Aaron Stinnie and center Ryan Jensen before the season even started, and backup Josh Wells was lost near the end of September. Depth has been an issue in front of Brady and the lack of protection is without a doubt playing into his inability to get the Bucs offense rolling.

That lack of protection and general lack of much of anything on offense once again reared its head in Week 6 against the Steelers. Brady was constantly under pressure and the result was a handful of field goals despite drives that took Tampa Bay into the redzone all afternoon.

After failing to reach the endzone on an otherwise solid drive before halftime, Brady lit into his offensive line with some choice words on the sideline.

For what it’s worth, Brady was trying to fire his guys up. Whether or not his shouting at them motivates them to step their game up is yet to be seen.

The bigger issue for the Buccaneers is the sputtering start to the season the offense has experienced. It’s exposed their lack of efficiency in games against the Cowboys and Saints, and cost them games against the Packers and Chiefs.

Brady has been able to evade Father Time in ways we’ve never witnessed before, but it appears that may be changing. He still has enough to lead the Buccaneers offense and he hasn’t completely fallen off the cliff as we saw with Peyton Manning and Ben Roethlisberger, but things do not look good in Tampa Bay so far this season.

A banged-up offensive line that can’t offer him any protection isn’t helping matters much.
