The Philadelphia Eagles are flying high at 6-0 as the last undefeated team in the league.

After taking care of business at home vs. the arch rival Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football, the Philadelphia Eagles are sitting comfortably atop the NFL‘s highest perch in football.

Philadelphia improved to 6-0 on the year with a convincing 26-17 win over Dallas in primetime. The Eagles will be hitting their annual bye this week. While one could argue that this may seize all of their positive momentum away from them, there is a great chance this emerging juggernaut NFC team will not lose its first game of the season until late November at the absolute earliest.

It may not be until the holiday season approaches when members of the 1972 Miami Dolphins can safely pop open some more celebratory champagne bottles from the comfort of their South Floridian villas for active seniors. It’ll be a hoot and a half, alright.

Predicting when Philadelphia Eagles will suffer their first loss of the season

Here is a look at what the Eagles have ahead of them entering their bye week and beyond.

  • Week 7: Bye
  • Week 8: vs. Pittsburgh Steelers (Sunday, Oct. 30)
  • Week 9: at Houston Texans (Thursday, Nov. 3)
  • Week 10: vs. Washington Commanders (Monday, Nov. 14)
  • Week 11: at Indianapolis Colts (Sunday, Nov. 20)
  • Week 12: vs. Green Bay Packers (Sunday, Nov. 27)
  • Week 13: vs. Tennessee Titans (Sunday, Dec. 4)
  • Week 14: at New York Giants (Sunday, Dec. 11)
  • Week 15: at Chicago Bears (Sunday, Dec. 18)
  • Week 16: at Dallas Cowboys (Saturday, Dec. 24)
  • Week 17: vs. New Orleans Saints (Sunday, Jan. 1)
  • Week 18: vs. New York Giants (Sunday, Jan. 8)

While anybody can beat anybody on any given Sunday, the first game that jumps out where the Eagles could lose is Week 11 at the Indianapolis Colts. They may have found themselves by then, and could have emerged as the AFC South division front-runner. It is a home game for the Colts. Philadelphia will be playing the Colts on a short week. The Eagles are Matt Ryan’s boyhood team…

That is right around the time when the Eagles’ schedule gets considerably tougher. After the Colts date, the Birds’ next three games are home vs. the Green Bay Packers, home vs. the Tennessee Titans and at the New York Giants. It is still early in the season, but that is a brutal stretch of games in the third quarter of their season. Philadelphia is probably losing at least one of them.

Should the Eagles somehow get to 14-0 with additional wins over the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Houston Texans, the Washington Commanders, the Colts, the Packers, the Titans, the Giants and the Chicago Bears, they will have probably clinched the NFC East by then, and possibly home-field advantage. While 17-0 could still be in play, they could easily drop one of their final three games.

This is because their Week 15 through 17 dates will be against two division rivals, and potentially three teams fighting for their playoff lives in the NFC: at Dallas, home vs. the New Orleans Saints and vs. the Giants. New Orleans may be already out of it by then, but keep in mind how down the NFC is this season. Plus, the NFC South is incredibly weak and may be the most winnable division.

With Dallas and New York having four and five wins on the season already, we are potentially looking at two of the many teams, including New Orleans, who could be competing for one of three NFC Wild Card spots. In short, desperation will be in the air for teams in these theoretical situations. Philadelphia will have taken its foot off the gas a bit, whether it even wanted to or not…

Overall, the best bet right now for the Eagles to drop their first game will be in Week 11 at the Colts in a short week. Philadelphia will be riding high after getting to presumably 9-0 with a dominating win over the Commanders on Monday Night Football. This will be the Colts’ first game back home after playing a pair on the road at New England and at Las Vegas over the two weeks prior.

While there is a chance the Eagles could stumble right out of the bye to Pittsburgh, pick the Colts.
