The rain delay for Game 5 of the ALDS between the Yankees and Guardians had some on MLB Twitter spreading conspiracy theories.

Will the Yankees or the Guardians move on to face the Astros in the ALCS?

The MLB world was supposed to find out on Monday night with a decisive Game 5 in New York. However, the weather has the game in doubt.

A rain delay pushed back the planned start. However, with no rain actually falling, some on Twitter wondered if the Yankees were tampering with the schedule.

MLB Twitter thinks the Yankees wanted a rain delay vs. Guardians

MLB certainly can’t control the weather. Radar showed the arrival of rain, even if it wasn’t over the stadium yet. It arrived in due time.

The Yankees may be nicknamed the Evil Empire but some, but even they don’t have that kind of power.

If the game gets delayed to Tuesday, it may be in NY’s benefit but there’s also no telling how the game would play out on either day. Cleveland’s pitchers will also get extra rest.

At least one fan acknowledged the possibility that playing on Tuesday could backfire just as easily as it could benefit New York.

For now, the waiting game continues. Whether the game gets played on Monday night or Tuesday, it’ll be a must-watch for baseball fans in New York, Cleveland, Houston and all over.

New York won Game 1 before Cleveland grabbed Game 2 after a rain delay. The two sides split again in Ohio, with Sunday night’s 4-2 win keeping Aaron Boone’s squad in it.
