Let’s take a look at how the college football media reacted to some of the changes to the Top 25 entering Week 9.

LSU in the Top 20

The biggest climbers up the rankings are undoubtedly LSU. They were unranked the week prior, but are now ranked 18th in the nation. Hey, coming back from a two-touchdown deficit and scoring 28 unanswered points in the second half against a team that was ranked seventh in the country.

Jayden Daniels played a huge role in the victory, scoring five touchdowns on his own. Now, Brian Kelly has his first signature with as head coach of the Tigers.

Ole Miss falls to 15

Ole Miss had a fall from grace after their performance in Week 8. They seemingly had LSU right where they wanted them with a 17-3 lead, but then they were only able to get a field goal before halftime. Then, no other points were scored.

The Rebels suffered their first loss of the season and dropped eight spots to the No. 15 spot.

Hope is not lost for Ole Miss. They get to play the Texas A&M Aggies, Mississippi State Cowboys and Alabama Crimson Tide. Defeating those teams could do wonders for their chances of making it out of the SEC West.

South Carolina ranked for first time in four years

Besides LSU, there was another SEC team to be added to the Top 25 entering Week 9. Of course, we are talking about the South Carolina Gamecocks. This is the first time that the football team has been ranked since the 2018 season.

The Gamecocks faced off against the Texas A&M Aggies, who were a National Championship favorite entering the season. Instead, South Carolina handed Jimbo Fisher’s program their fourth loss of the season, as they led 17-0 in the first quarter before pulling way to get the 30-24 victory.

With this victory, South Carolina is now 5-2 on the season, and enters a matchup against the Missouri Tigers in Week 9. This is the very Missouri team that gave the Georgia Bulldogs a tough time back in Week 5.
