Philadelphia Phillies fans took to Broad Street after the team won the NL pennant to clinch a spot in the World Series.

For the first time since 2009, the Philadelphia Phillies are World Series-bound.

The Phillies held a 3-1 National League Championship Series lead over the San Diego Padres entering Game 5. In that game, the Phillies trailed 3-2 in the bottom of the eighth inning, but Bryce Harper took the lead on a clutch two-run home run. Ranger Suarez entered the top of the ninth inning in relief of David Robertson to record the save and secure the NL pennant for Philadelphia.

Phillies fans were celebrating inside of Citizens Bank Park. They also made it out to Broad Street to party with their fellow fans.

Philadelphia got off to a strong start to Game 5, as Rhys Hoskins smashed a two-run homer to left center field in the third inning to give them a 2-0 lead.

Yet, the Padres were able to score three unanswered runs. In the top of the fourth inning, outfielder Juan Soto hit a home run to center field. Then in the seventh, Josh Bell hit an RBI double and Jose Azocar scoring on a wild pitch thrown by Seranthony Dominguez.

But then, a single by J.T. Realmuto set up Harper’s clutch two-run homer.

The Phillies are National League champions, and now wait to see who they will face between the Houston Astros and New York Yankees. Game 1 of the World Series is set for Friday, Oct. 28.
