2023 NFL Mock Draft: Could QBs go 1-2-3 in the first round?
By Brad Weiss
The 2022 NFL season is in full swing, and as we inch closer to the halfway mark, let us take a look at the potential first round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Entering Week 8 of the 2022 NFL season, the race for the playoffs is officially on in both conferences. Also, at the same time, the race for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft is on, and right now, the Detroit Lions would have the very first selection, likely turning the page at quarterback.
Here, we look at the potential first round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
2023 NFL Mock Draft: Could QBs go 1-2-3 in the first round?
We start our mock draft out with the Detroit Lions, who currently hold the No. 1 overall pick, and have a lot of work to do. Luckily for them, they hold two first-round picks in 2023, so while it may look bleak now, they have some quality draft picks to help rebuild this roster next off-season.
Starting at No. 1 overall, the run on quarterbacks begins, as CJ Stroud from Ohio State is the first player taken. Stroud would help the Lions hit the reset button at the most important position in sports and would be a fan favorite in the Motor City.
Picking at No. 2 overall is the Houston Texans, who are fresh off a bad road loss to a one-win team in the Las Vegas Raiders this past Sunday. The Texans have major issues on both sides of the ball, and despite Davis Mills throwing for 300 yards against the Silver and Black, they cannot pass on a quarterback here.
The pick for the Texans is Bryce Young, who helps them turn the page at the quarterback spot, and enables them to have a high-quality backup in Mills. Young could end up being the No. 1 overall pick, but as I see it now, I like Stroud at No. 1, and Young right behind him at 2.
