Eagles trades to go 17-0: Add a safety

Jimmy Kempski of Philly Voice wrote a column about what might be next for the Eagles on the trade front, and it focused primarily on running backs. He addressed what many have speculated on the other side of the ball with safety depth but said the Eagles haven’t made any inquiries on that front.

Still, if they want to guarantee their stake as an undefeated team heading into the postseason, safety depth is needed. They made a good move to get C.J. Gardner-Johnson in a trade with the Saints earlier this season, but Marcus Epps has been their only full safety on the depth chart since rookie Reed Blankenship has missed every game since Week 1. An injury or decline in play to any of their current safeties would create massive holes in the secondary.

Previously, Kempski pointed out Jabrill Peppers as a possible option there.

There have to be a number of affordable options out there at safety especially if the goal is simply depth and not a starting-caliber player.
