Trea Turner rumors: Braves saved money for a move like this

Atlanta general manager Alex Anthopoulos signed the Braves young stars to team-friendly deals in what can only be described as highway robbery. Now, the young core is set in place for years to come. What should the franchise do with its savings?

FanSided MLB Insider Robert Murray has an idea, per his column a few weeks back:

"“To me, the Braves are the sleeper for Turner … if Dansby Swanson leaves in free agency. Swanson and the Braves have talked about an extension, sources said, though nothing is believed to be close. Atlanta has saved money in the long haul by signing Michael Harris II, Spencer Strider, Austin Riley and others to extensions. Perhaps they could use some of that money to sign Turner in a move that would send shockwaves throughout baseball.”"

It should be pointed out that while the Braves are saving said money, their revenue is also increasing. Liberty Media is not struggling.

Vaughn Grissom could very well be the next coming of Dansby Swanson, but assuming ‘The Sheriff’ himself doesn’t take the discount the Braves likely want him to sign on for, Turner is the more logical replacement for a championship-ready team.
