The first World Series game in Philadelphia in 13 years is off to a stellar start, with Phillies star Bryce Harper hitting a 2-run bomb to right field.

Phillies fans — and Bryce Harper for that matter — have been waiting for this moment for quite some time.

Philly is a sports town at its core, and with Harper as the face of its baseball franchise, it was only a matter of time before fate intervened.

Harper took a Lance McCullers Jr. breaking ball out to right field in a hurry, giving the Phillies a 2-0 lead over the visiting Houston Astros. The series remains tied at a game apiece…for now.

Bryce Harper’s home run puts Phillies ahead: Watch from all angles

Bryce Harper’s home run, should the Phils hold on to win Game 3 (it’s quite early, I’ll remind you), will be one of those moments that lives on in Philadelphia sports lore. In one moment, Harper started an earthquake at Citizens Bank Park with a swing of the bat. And oh, boy, did he find the sweet spot.

Safe to say Harper knew it was gone off the bat. The broadcast angle left little doubt.

From the stands, Harper created pure pandemonium.

This may be Harper’s first World Series — and thus his first Fall Classic home game — but that was the swing of a man who’s been here before. Perhaps in a past life, who knows?

With Harper’s home run, he is now just one blast away from the most home runs in a single postseason in Phillies history. If Bryce has it his way, he’ll demolish that record by Game 5.

The last two pitches Harper has seen at Citizens Bank Park with both sent to the seats — his home run against the Astros on Tuesday night, as well as his game-winning blast against the San Diego Padres in Game 5 of the NLCS.

The man has a knack for big moments.
