The Detroit Lions lost another game this weekend, falling to the Miami Dolphins despite looking very good offensively early on. This season, the offense has not been the problem, but with Jared Goff as their quarterback, the Lions cannot afford to pass on one of the top signal-callers in this draft class.
The big debate next year will be between CJ Stroud and Bryce Young for pick No. 1, but we have Stroud edging Young out here. Detroit could roll with Goff again in 2023 and let Stroud learn the position, which is not a bad problem to have.
Davis Mills is a very capable NFL quarterback, and his last time out, he shredded the Las Vegas Raiders defense for over 300 yards. However, there is no way the Houston Texans are going to pass on Bryce Young at pick No. 2 overall, especially if he is coming off winning the Heisman Trophy.
Young is the kind of player you can build your whole franchise around, and while Mills is solid, he is not good enough for the Texans to do that with him. Young at No. 2 makes a lot of sense, and if Stroud is the one available here, he should be the pick then.
