Jalen Hurts and A.J. Brown connected for three touchdowns this past weekend against the Steelers. Not even constant double teams could slow down the new Philadelphia wide receiver. The Eagles are now 7-0. A win tomorrow night against the Houston Texans would eclipse the 2004 team for the best start in franchise history. But despite the illustrious history of the organization, where do Jalen Hurts and A.J. Brown land among the great Philadelphia Eagles QB-WR combos of all time?

What’s striking about the list is that there haven’t actually been that many great duos, and for many, the pair only aligned for a season or two.

5. Irving Fryar – Ty Detmer (and Rodney Pete) (1996 – 1997)

Irving Fryar came off of two Pro Bowl seasons with the Miami Dolphins to join the Philadelphia Eagles in 1996. Ty Detmer, who had a strong college career with BYU, found himself playing backup to Brett Favre on the Green Bay Packers. In 1996, he joined Fryar in signing with the Philadelphia Eagles and saw significant playing time once Rodney Pete went down with injury. Detmer started 11 games during the 1996 season, and Irving Fryar finished the season with 1,195 receiving yards and 11 TDs. The Eagles went 10-6 (finishing behind the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East) and lost to the San Francisco 49ers in the Wild Card round of the playoffs.

The 1997 season was a disappointment for the Eagles, who finished 6-9-1 and started three different quarterbacks throughout the season. Detmer started the most games throughout the season with seven. Despite these difficulties, Fryar still caught for over 1,300 yards and made a fourth straight Pro Bowl. The following season, the Eagles quarterbacked by committee again, as Detmer left to back up Steve Young in San Francisco. Irving briefly retired after the 1998 season before signing with Washington. Though this combo was short-lived, it was one of the most productive in Eagles history.
