Alabama will have their College Football Playoff hopes on the line in Death Valley against LSU.

If the college football season ended today, the Alabama Crimson Tide would not be in the College Football Playoff. Hindered by the loss at Tennessee, Nick Saban’s team came in at No. 6 in the first rankings. But there is a clear path to the Top 4 for the Tide and that starts on Saturday with a trip to Death Valley to face SEC West rival LSU.

After an inauspicious start to the season for the Tigers, Brian Kelly has the team trending up in a massive way, most recently taking down Ole Miss in a blowout prior to the bye and then the matchup with Bama. Most importantly, quarterback Jayden Daniels has been white hot and finding his groove in the offense, which he’ll need to keep pace with Bryce Young and Co. on Saturday at Tiger Stadium.

This is a titanic matchup in the SEC, one that could determine the pulse of Alabama’s CFP hopes and that could create a path to the Playoff for LSU if the Tigers could pull off the upset at home. So it’s only natural that we have some bold predictions for the clash in Death Valley.

Alabama vs LSU: 3 bold predictions for SEC showdown

3. Jayden Daniels accounts for 5 total touchdowns

As mentioned, after some early-season worries about Daniels’ control of the LSU offense, the Arizona State transfer has come into his own as of late. Over his last two games, Daniels has accrued 597 passing yards with five touchdowns and on interceptions while also rushing for 165 yards and six more touchdowns. He’s been playing like a star.

Though it’s a different offense, one thing that Alabama struggled mightily with against Tennessee in the loss was the mobility of Hendon Hooker and the secondary’s ability to stay with a talented wide receiver corps. That’s something that Daniels and the Tigers receivers can bring to the table as well.

Because of that, even if the LSU defense has some struggles of its own, I see a big day coming for Daniels. With both his arm and legs, he’s going to keep the Tigers in this game with a monster performance against the Crimson Tide.
