Scouting Report. Big 12. TCU Horned Frogs. 2. player. 872. Pick Analysis. (9-0)

TCU keeps winning games in Big 12 play, but the Horned Frogs are squeaking by

With a game that was way too close for comfort, the undefeated TCU Horned Frogs improved to 9-0 overall and 6-0 in Big 12 play with a 34-24 victory over the Texas Tech Red Raiders. There were moments in that game where it looked like Joey McGuire’s team could have handed Sonny Dykes’ bunch their first loss of the season, but the Big 12 behemoth TCU prevailed in Fort Worth.

Because TCU remains undefeated, the Horned Frogs will make the College Football Playoff if they do win out. However, one loss between now and the Big 12 title bout could do them in. This is because their last five Big 12 wins have all come by 10 points or less. Yes, they did clobber Oklahoma during a brutal spot for the Sooners, but these margins have just been way too close.

With a huge road game at Texas next week, TCU could slip up and potentially knock the Big 12 out of the playoff race. Although it has been a down year for Baylor and a terrible year for Iowa State, Dave Aranda and Matt Campbell are excellent coaches who are more than capable of drawing up a game plan to play the ultimate spoiler. These slim margins of victories might end up costing TCU.

Of all the remaining undefeated teams, this is the reason why TCU cannot afford a loss the most.
