The LSU Tigers suddenly have a lifeline to pursue the College Football Playoff after knocking off Alabama and taking control of the SEC West.

LSU was written off pretty soundly when Tennessee handed them their second loss of the season, 40-13.

Just a few weeks later, the Tigers sat up in their coffin like The Undertaker and stormed into the College Football Playoff discussion.

On Saturday night, LSU took No. 6 Alabama to overtime and then buried them with a two-point conversion to end the game, 32-31.

The path to the CFP is now shockingly clear.

How LSU can get into the College Football Playoff after beating Alabama

LSU has three “take care of business” matchups remaining on their schedule. Next week they get Arkansas. Then they’ll host UAB before finishing the season against Texas A&M. The Razorbacks just fell to 5-4 with a loss to Liberty. The Blazers are 4-5. The Aggies have lost five in a row and sit 3-6.

It would be a surprise for the Tigers to drop any of those games. By the end of the regular season, they should be 10-2 with the SEC West title in hand. They should be able to punch a ticket to the SEC Championship Game.

From there, LSU would have to beat the SEC East champion, presumably Georgia. That would mean knocking off The No. 1 team in the nation.

The Tigers would still need some help to make it in. No two-loss team has ever made the playoff field. However, no two-loss SEC champion has ever had to be considered. If the Pac-12 cannibalizes itself (as usual) and TCU falters in the Big-12 (which is certainly possible), LSU could be in business.

dark. Next. The radio call of LSU's 2-point conversion is immense
