A tremendous story during the postseason, the Philadelphia Phillies came up short against the Houston Astros in the World Series.
If you’re looking for one of the biggest reasons why the Philadelphia Phillies fell in six games to the Houston Astros in the 2022 World Series, look no further than the lack of offense produced by the Philadelphia lineup. Houston pitchers held the Phillies to a combined .163/.259/.321 slash line. Following a 7-0 win in Game 3, the Phillies scored just three runs over the final three games of the Fall Classic.
Two of those three runs over the final three games came off the bat of Kyle Schwarber, thanks to a pair of solo homers. Philadelphia out-homered the Astros 8-5 overall in the Series, but it was one of the few areas where the Phillies were better at the plate than their American League opponents.

3. Rhys Hoskins
Hoskins went just 3-for-25 (.120) in the World Series, but one of those hits was a home run in Game 3’s homer-filled Phillies outburst.
Along with that Game 3 home run, Hoskins also struck out twice in the game, part of 10 overall strikeouts he logged during the World Series. In all during the postseason, Hoskins struck out 24 times in 69 at-bats (34.8 percent of the time).
A .246 hitter during the regular season, Hoskins posted an overall .159 average during the postseason.
