Bippity Boppity Bo: Bo Nix turns into pumpkin for Oregon

The Oregon Ducks lost their second game of the season, as quarterback Bo Nix could not pull them ahead of the Washington Huskies late in the game on Saturday.

The Oregon Ducks rebounded from a blowout loss to the defending national champion Georgia Bulldogs in their first game of the season. They hadn’t lost a game since as quarterback Bo Nix had a career resurgence after moving over from Auburn. We’re talking Heisman-level performances from the senior quarterback.

Oregon began its tough end-of-season schedule this Saturday as they hosted the No. 25 Washington Huskies. This was not the game for Nix to put up numbers like you hope your starting quarterback in fantasy football would do, but he was still relatively solid.

However, solid was not enough, as the Ducks lost 37-34 to the Huskies. It was their second loss of the year and they have now taken a massive hit in their chances of making the College Football Playoff.

Bo Nix was not good enough for Oregon to beat Washington

As mentioned earlier, Nix was having a good game. But late in the fourth quarter, after scrambling in the red zone, Nix was hit hard on his way to the ground. He was seemingly fine, but then it looked as though something pulled in his right leg, causing him to fall back onto the field, where he needed assistance at the sideline.

Nix did return after missing their next drive, yet it looked as though the injury still bothered him. He did almost complete a huge sideline pass to wide receiver Troy Franklin, but the pass catcher was penalized for illegal touching.

Nix had one final play, with one-second remaining to score a touchdown. His final pass, however, fell well short of his intended target, clinching the win for Washington.

In the game, Nix completed 19-of-27 pass attempts for 280 yards and two touchdowns, while running for 59 yards and a touchdown on nine carries.

Meanwhile, Washington’s Michael Penix Jr. had a huge performance. He redeemed himself from a costly red zone interception to lead the team to victory. Penix threw for 408 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception (26-of-35 on his attempts).

Oregon will look to rebound from this loss, but it will be a tough feat, as they take on the Utah Utes next week.
