Freshman linebacker Harold Perkins Jr. had a fantastic game for the LSU Tigers in Week 11, which will undoubtedly cause Jimbo Fisher to kick himself.

The LSU Tigers did what no team has done since 2019 — essentially eliminate the Alabama Crimson Tide from College Football Playoff contention. Even though they have two losses on the year, the Tigers still have a path to the Playoff, as evidenced by their jump up rom the No. 10 spot to No. 7 in the latest rankings. But, they would need to win out to try and secure a way into the SEC Championship Game.

Their first opponent in their way were the Arkansas Razorbacks in Week 11. On Saturday, the game was a defensive battle, with the offenses failing to secure over 300 yards. LSU was able to escape Razorback Stadium with a 13-10 victory. There is one player to thank for that, and that is freshman linebacker Harold Perkins Jr.

Arkansas had one final shot to at minimum force overtime with over a minute remaining. However, Perkins was able to force a fumble on Razorbacks quarterback Cade Fortin, which was recovered by Mekhi Wingo. That clinched the victory for LSU.

LSU fans have to be ecstatic about Perkins, considering he was originally a recruit by Jimbo Fisher and the Texas A&M Aggies.

Harold Perkins Jr. elite showing will upset Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M fans

Let’s go over the game statistics for Perkins. He recorded eight total tackles, four sacks and two forced fumbles against Arkansas. In regards to sacks and forced fumbles in a single game, no player in the Power-5 has done this since Chase Young did so with Ohio State back in 2019, per ESPN Stats and Info.

Perkins, a five-star recruit in the class of 2022, initially committed to play for Fisher and the Aggies back in the beginning of this year (Jan. 2). But on Jan. 24, Perkins officially decommitted from Texas A&M. On Feb. 2, Perkins committed to LSU and signed his letter of intent.

In hindsight, the Aggies could’ve certainly used Perkins. They drastically underperformed this season, failing to live up to expectations of reaching the SEC Championship Game. Instead, they sit at 3-6 on the season entering Week 11.

LSU and head coach Brian Kelly have to be thrilled that they have Perkins on their roster. His college career has only started, but his future looks very bright.
