Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr was emotional after the team’s loss to the Indianapolis Colts when discussing how rough their season has been.

Derek Carr and the Las Vegas Raiders are having the exact opposite of a season they were expected to have. Considered to be playoff contenders in the AFC, they had just two wins on the year, and are in the driver’s seat for the second-overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Just when they thought their luck couldn’t get any worse, Week 10 happened.

Las Vegas fell to the Indianapolis Colts 25-20 to fall to a 2-7 record. This was the very Indianapolis Colts team who hired Jeff Saturday to be their interim head coach, who had zero coaching experience. Not to mention that quarterback Matt Ryan returned from the bench and had his best game of the season.

After the game, Carr was emotional at the press conference when discussing how rough the season has been for the Raiders.

“I love Josh [McDaniels]. I love our coaches. They’ve had nothing but success. Way more success than I’ve ever had,” said Carr. “Sorry to be emotional. I’m just pissed off about some of the things that a lot of us try and do just to practice, what we put our bodies through just to sleep at night…And for that to be the result of all of that effort, pisses me off. Pisses a lot of guys off.

“It’s hard knowing what some guys are doing. Like I said, just to practice. What they’re putting in their body just to sleep at night, just so we can be there for each other. And I wish everyone in that room felt the same way about this place, and as a leader that pisses me off, if I’m being honest.”

Carr has been a member of the Raiders ever since he joined the NFL as a second-round draft pick in 2014. Last year was a tumultuous one for the Raiders, as head coach Jon Gruden resigned following an email scandal, and the team went a run to the playoffs under interim coach Rich Bisaccia.

The Raiders made the moves this offseason to build off of their run to the playoffs. They acquired and signed Carr’s former Fresno State teammate Davante Adams. They brought in edge rusher Chandler Jones. Prior to these moves, the team hired New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels to be their next head coach.

As mentioned earlier, the team has not had any luck. They had three 17+ point blown leads this season. On Sunday, they had two leads, each coming in at just one point each. Their 20-19 lead disappeared on a 35-yard touchdown reception by Colts receiver Parris Campbell.

The Raiders will look to get back in the win column next week when they face an equally disappointing Denver Broncos team.
