Free agent pitcher Kodai Senga has reportedly been targeted by a few different teams, but his Instagram hints he may have a connection with the Dodgers.

Kodai Senga has been floating around southern California as he reportedly met with the San Diego Padres and has also caught the interest of the Los Angeles Dodgers. He’s caught the interest of a few other teams as well, but he recently posted a photo of a Dodgers mug to his Instagram story, hinting they may be on his radar too.

Of course, there’s no guarantee as to where he ends up. However, this suggests that going to the Dodgers is a possibility that Senga is considering among quite a few offers he’s expected to receive.

It would certainly be a win for Los Angeles if Senga ended up there. The team is already quite stacked with talent, and he’d only make it better.

Kodai Senga could help the Dodgers pitching problems

The Dodgers had issues in their rotation and bullpen, though they undeniably do have talent. They lack depth and relied on aces like Julio Urias and Clayton Kershaw as stars. Their bullpen had a bit more depth, but it certainly could be improved from someone like Senga.

Statistically, Los Angeles had the best results from their pitchers in the league during the regular season. There’s no denying they’re a talented team. However, they could stand to get a few more reliable arms to further lock down success.

Senga has experience as both a starter and a reliever, but he seems to be more experienced as a reliever. Assuming that’s where the Dodgers would put him if he joined the team, he’d certainly be a reliable player to close out games.

This past season, he played for two Japanese leagues and produced an ERA of 1.89 and WHIP of 1.04. He’d play extremely well alongside some of the other reliable players, and Los Angeles would certainly get even better with him on the team.

It’s unclear where Senga may end up for the 2023 season, but Los Angeles certainly seems to be in consideration.
