Green Bay Packers lineman Sean Rhyan is surely facing the consequences for his PED use, getting a hefty suspension as a result.

Green Bay Packers rookie lineman Sean Rhyan has been suspended for the rest of the regular NFL season for using PEDs.

Luckily, the Packers won’t be impacted too much as Rhyan played just one snap this season, but it’s certainly not a good look for any team when any player gets caught using PEDs.

Rhyan, a third-round pick, showed potential to be a great player through his performance at UCLA. He was a starter and garnered Freshman All-American honors and first-team All-Pac-12 recognition.

According to his UCLA profile, in 2021, he “helped pave the way for the Bruins to average over 200 yards per game on the ground for the second straight season (215.1) and produce a 1,000-yard rusher in Zach Charbonnet (1,137), the first time since 1987-86-85 seasons that UCLA has achieved consecutive 200-plus yard rushing seasons.”

However, he’s hurting his reputation before it could even begin in the NFL. Many had faith in his potential upon his draft, including Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst.

Gutekunst shared the night Rhyan was drafted, “He’s a true third-year junior, so a lot of experience for a young player. We think his best football should be ahead of him.”

He cut any chances, however, of proving that this regular season. However, if the Packers happen to make it to the playoffs, he’d be eligible to play because his suspension is only six games.

Sean Rhyan could play this season if the Packers reach the playoffs

Green Bay doesn’t seem overly likely to reach the playoffs this season. While it’s not out of the realm of possibility as they’re tied with the Detroit Lions for second in the NFC North standings with a 4-7 record, they’d have to start pulling a lot more wins in this final stretch of the season.

They’re not favored to win Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, one of the best teams in the league this season. They face some other difficult teams in the final stretch, such as the Los Angeles Rams, Miami Dolphins and Minnesota Vikings. They’ll end the season against the Lions, which could be a difficult matchup as well.

If the season ended now, the Packers wouldn’t be in the playoffs. If they do happen to make it between now and the end of the season, Rhyan could play, but it’s not guaranteed. Regardless, he has to face the consequences of his own actions head-first and miss the rest of the regular season.
