South Carolina is riding a Beamer heater of a lifetime

South Carolina football is on an all-time heater under second-year head coach Shane Beamer.

Besides the sun, nothing is hotter right now than Shane Beamer’s South Carolina football team.

Hansel can’t hang with the Gamecocks heading into the holiday season. When South Carolina fans are on a heater, they are usually ripping lung darts, hanging on for dear life out of a Cockaboose, overserved and underwhelmed by their middling SEC East football program. But now, Beamer has more juice than Michael Keaton playing Beetlejuice. He IS Batman, and we are along for the ride!

Not only did South Carolina upset two top-10 rivals in back-to-back weeks in Tennessee and Clemson, but much-maligned offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield gets to leave Columbia essentially on top.

The offense exploded the last two weeks under his guidance and play-calling. Satterfield nearly stayed on with Beamer’s staff, but the opportunity to reunite with Matt Rhule at Nebraska was too good for him to pass up. Whippleball will no longer be a thing in Lincoln now.

Should Spencer Rattler decide he wants to stay one more year in college, South Carolina fans are going to be more fired up than Jadeveon Clowney lighting up a Michigan running back in the Outback Bowl (RIP) like a dang Christmas tree. Ain’t neither one of us were mad at Jadeveon then…

The only way to celebrate being on this heater of a lifetime is to eat a Bloomin’ Onion all by yourself in the bleachers, Cole Cubelic style, as the good lord intended. If you cannot get to some rickety bleachers, a lawn chair will suffice, so long as you can dip your toes into a kiddie pool.

South Carolina is absolutely thriving right now under head coach Shane Beamer

Admittedly, there were people who were mighty skeptical on Beamer taking over at South Carolina. He may have a famous father and may have had a strong attachment to the Gamecocks after working for the Head Ball Coach, but USC is typically a program where coaches go to die. For this to be Beamer’s first shot at sitting in the big chair, he is undeniably and absolutely thriving.

It may have taken a sweet, delicious mayo bath to the dome in Charlotte to exorcise those South Carolina demons, but the Gamecocks are night and day better since getting spanked at home to Georgia in September. For now, one could argue that South Carolina might be the most formidable challenger to the Dawgs next year. At the very least, you cannot deny all this positive momentum.

Overall, we did see signs in year one that Beamer could be the guy long-term in Columbia; we just did not want to believe what we were seeing. To pull off two early program-defining wins in succession is absolutely incredible. Although Satterfield may be heading to Lincoln to reunite with Rhule, Beamer has a tremendous opportunity to hire his next outstanding offensive coordinator.

You may have to pinch your Gamecock friends over the holidays to prove they are not dreaming.
